What the Fix Involves
Windsor's housing stock centers on 2007, which puts most doors here well inside the newer end of what we see across the wider Fort Collins service area, where builds run anywhere from 1975 to 2012.
Nylon-on-stem rollers
That matters because a door built in 2007 almost always shipped with nylon rollers on steel stems, not the older steel-on-steel setups you'll find in houses from the 1970s and 80s elsewhere in the territory.
Nylon tires crack and flatten
Nylon rollers run quieter and last longer, but they still wear - the stem bends, the nylon tire cracks or flat-spots, and the door starts binding in the track on one side before the other.
Full set swap
We pull the roller brackets, check the track alignment while we're in there (misaligned track is what kills rollers early), and swap the full set rather than just the one that failed, since the rest are the same age and close behind it. Winters here are cold enough that stiff, cracked nylon is a common failure mode heading into a cold snap - the material loses flex right when the door gets used hardest.

Doing It Yourself
Rollers look like a simple swap, and on an open-track design they sometimes are, but the top roller on each side sits inside the bracket that also holds the vertical track to the frame. Pull it wrong and the track shifts, and now the door is off-plumb on top of needing new rollers. If you're working on a double door, both sides need to come apart evenly or the panel racks. We'll say plainly that a steady homeowner with the right socket set can usually manage the bottom rollers on a single door safely. Anything involving the top bracket, a door with a broken cable, or a door that's already fighting you in the track - stop and call it in rather than forcing it.
Parts We Carry
We stock nylon rollers in the stem lengths that match the hardware typical of 2000s-era builds, since that's most of what we're pulling out of driveways here.
Older roller variants uncommon
We don't carry every steel-roller variant from older stock on the truck - those are less common in this area given the build years, and if your house is an exception we may need to order the exact stem length rather than swap on the spot.
Deeper spring or cable issue
Worth saying plainly: if we open the door up and find the track itself is bent or the rollers failed because of a bigger spring or cable problem, roller replacement alone won't fix it, and we'll tell you that before we quote the smaller job.
How Long You Are Without the Door
A straightforward roller swap on one side, with the stock we carry, is done in a single visit - the door goes back on the track the same day we're there. If the stem length isn't on the truck, that one visit turns into two: an order, then an install. We travel to Windsor from Fort Collins, about 9 miles out, so we build that drive into the appointment window rather than treating it as a same-hour add-on.
Booking a Visit
Tell us the door's rough age when you call - if your house falls near that 2007 median for this area, we'll usually have the right rollers loaded before we leave the shop, which cuts the job down to one trip. If you're not sure what year your door or house was built, that's fine too; we can tell a lot just from the stem and bracket once we're looking at it.
